About the Founder

Rev. James D. Bracken founded Mission Teens, Inc. in 1969.  He opened the first residential center in Norma, NJ.  He knew there was a need for a more effective ministry for the troubled young people that were attending his home prayer meetings.  After two years of little results in the center, God dictated to him a program that when put into effect, brought immediate results in the people’s lives.  This same program is still being used today in all of the Mission Teens centers and the results are still phenomenal..

About the Directors

Rev. Bill Murphy and his wife Teri are the Assistant Executive Directors at Sonrise Mission.  They work directly with Rev. Jim Bracken to train the staff, oversee the general conditions of the building, raise necessary suppor as well as teach, counsel, etc.

Bill and Teri came to the Florida center from New Jersey in 1996 following the call of God to help others as they had been helped.  Both had been at the New Jersey center for several years before coming to Florida.  They currently live off property but Bill is at the mission daily.  Teri continues to write the Florida center's newsletter and does the centers bookkeeping.  She also counsels the women when needed.
